The band
The Elders were a four-piece rock covers band based in Essex. We played pubs, social clubs, weddings and outdoor events across Essex, Kent, London and the South East, and for a party we could bring the disco and background music as well. The set list covered the 60s (and some 50s at a pinch) right up to modern stuff, from The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and T. Rex through to Snow Patrol, Blink-182 and Coldplay.
We don't play any more, but we've kept this site up so the photos and the memories stay online.
The Elders played for years under different names and line-ups, from open-air concerts to church halls for birthday parties, plus the odd New Year's Eve party. Mark and Neil had been playing in bands together since the 90s, and Laura sang backing vocals with them in NoMansBand. Earlier line-ups included Craig on drums and Alex on bass in Delusions of Grandeur, and John and Alex on bass and Simon and Adam on drums in NoMansBand. In The Elders, Chris joined on bass with Jason on drums, and then Al took over on drums. After Chris, Al Green joined on bass.

It is with great sadness that we attended the funeral of our friend and bass player, Chris Thomas, on 19th May 2023. Our thoughts go out to his wife Alison and his family. We will miss his drive, motivation, musicianship, laughter and most of all, his friendship.
